David died at home with his family around him. It was a privilege for us to be able to share this time with him. We had great support from our GP, the local Palliative Care team and the "Daffodil" nurses supplied by the Irish Cancer Society. If we did not have this support we would definitely have needed hospice care for David. The Hospice Foundation provides specialist end-of-life care that enhances the life of the patient and the patient's family at this deeply distressing time. The provision of pain management, symptom control and support maintains the dignity of the patient and provides comfort to the family.
