Hi there, I'm doing the VHI Women's Mini Marathon this year to raise funds for Friends Of St Lukes Cancer Care.
Both of my parents unfortunately passed away 17 years apart. Both were patients of St Lukes hospital in Rathgar.
I was quite young when my mum was a patient and don't remember her experience there first-hand but from what I'm told it was positive.
My dad passed away on the 3rd of April this year from a Glioblastoma Multiforme, an aggressive form of brain cancer. He was incredibly strong and brave every step of the way, always keeping his chin up, always trying to make me laugh. I'm raising money for St Lukes because he always described it as "very chill" or "zen". He enjoyed many great chats with staff and fellow patients. I'm so grateful for those who made his treatment so much easier.
Staff at St Lukes are always there to talk, give information and most importantly listen. I want to help St Lukes continue their amazing work, making cancer care as stress-free and as comfortable as possible, for patients and their families.
