This year I've set myself the personal challenge of completing my first marathon and I will target a (hopefully not too ambitious) sub 3:40 time. I will be honest in saying that fundraising wasn't my primary motivation to take on this challenge however I've decided to set up this page in aid of Temple Street Children's Hospital as a number of people have asked me now what charity I'm doing this for and up until this point I've had to admit that I'm running it for selfish reasons :/ so I would like to thank those of you who put pressure on me to set this up as your donations will make all the difference to the tens of thousands of sick children in Ireland by helping make their stay in hospital less distressing than it it should be and it will also provide me with additional motivation on race day in the knowledge that I am actually using my 2 legs to run 26.2 miles in aid of a worthy cause.

I chose Temple Street Children's Hospital out of respect to the older members of my immediate family who were fortunate enough to remember my sister Mary, who sadly lost her fight with cancer in the late 1980's when she was only 7 years of age and spent the last month of her life in Temple Street. Each year the hospital needs to spend between €1million and €2million upgrading and purchasing new pieces of life-saving equipment. These purchases are crucial to allow Temple Street to stay at the forefront of paediatric care. Your support and donations will enable the Temple Street Foundation to purchase state of the art equipment like infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, infant warmers and ventilators that literally save lives and ensure children have access to the best care possible when they need it most.
