Thanks for visiting #AlfiesArmy's personal fundraising page. The charities that we have chosen to support as we undertake this years VHI Women's Mini Marathon are both extremley worthy causes and we would very much appreciate everyones support and donations...every penny counts!  For 2017 #AlfiesArmy will again be assembling a team of fabulous women who have donated their time to join the cause, helping us raise money and awareness for both Cystic Fibrosis Ireland, and CMRF Crumlin.

But why....?

Alfie was diagnosed with CF at just 4 weeks old, immediatley after bith he was rushed to Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin for immediate surgery and a lengthy hospital stay followed, not the start anyone wishes for when having a child.  4 weeks after birth, Alfie was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis......

CF is a life limiting genetic illness. Current statistics and research put life expectancy in the late 30's, a figure which sends chills down the spine of any parent. Alfie is living his life and battling CF daily, his daily routine involves daily nebulisers and physiotherapy, twice daily rounds of medicines and medication everytime he eats food....all at the delicate age of almost five. He visits the hospital every three months for a host of tests and checks with a specialist CF Team in Crumlin....and this will be part of his life... forever. When he gets sick this all increases, as do the hospital check ups and the possibility of hospital admissions. CF, its treatment, its management and its care are a huge part of Alfie's life but that doesn't stop him enjoying every minute of his life as a child should.

Crumlin Children's Hospital, alongside being a regular part of Alfies life and care, also work tirelessly in the field of research and development looking for treatments for children from across the country under their care.  Alfie's Doctor is part of a team working under the CMRF trialing new ground breaking, and life changing drugs which we hope one day Alfie will get access to....and will help improve his life.

Any donations you can spare, will go towards helping children like Alfie living with CF, and the children under the care of the wonderful staff at Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin.
