ARK Missions is a project in collaboration with Global Missions Ireland. The project provides free medical aid to people of all ages in rural areas in Nigeria. ARK Missions began in 2017 and has attended to over 2000 people in the past two years. The aim is to help raise health awareness and help improve the quality of life of the people in the rural areas of Nigeria. This is a country that has a high death rate from curable diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes. Recently, the subject of mental health is finally been talked about and as I am trained in Suicide prevention which is still a taboo subject in Nigeria as is mental health, I am planning to do some psycho-education for some of the doctors involved in the regions we are going to. I feel strongly about raising awareness of the importance of taking care of our mental health and how small positive steps could be made that would not impact their cultural and religious beliefs.
