The Evan Butler Trust is aiming to raise €20,000 to go towards the substantial costs of refurbishing a home for the current and future special needs of Evan Butler.
Please donate what you can. Thank you!

Evan is a nine year old boy with some challenges ahead. Though born seemingly healthy, it was eventually confirmed that Evan has a very rare genetic disorder – with potential for seizures, dyskinetic and dystonic attacks. He will need full-time care over his lifetime. His challenges are both physical and cognitive.

It has been a bumpy ride – particularly for the first few years – but for all of the serious threats to Evan’s health along the way, he remains a cheerful, bright, engaging and contented child. He’s very resilient and regularly demonstrates great ‘bounce-back-ability’!

Recognising that Evan will remain severely incapacitated and will never live independently, a trust in his name was set up by friends of his parents. It aims to help with ongoing and future expenses for the various physical therapies and equipment that will be necessary for Evan to fulfill his potential, and for which Irish state aid will not adequately cover.

It is his parents’ wish that Evan will always remain at home in their care, or in the future, that he could have live-in, full-time care assistance at his home. To this end, they are currently refurbishing a bungalow which will be suitable for his future needs. Through consultation with occupational therapists and physiotherapists, a suitable specification has been drawn up and a plan is in place to purchase the required equipment and to build suitable facilities for Evan. These include a ceiling mounted hoist system in his bedroom and adapted bathroom and another in the family living area, where there is to be a therapeutic soft play space.

Thanks for reading. We hope you can help. All monies raised will go to the Evan Butler Trust.
