Daniels fundraising for PSMG - Mutito

€3421.00

Goal : €1000
From 82 fantastic supporters

On 27th October I am running the Dublin City Marathon to fundraise for my auntie Anne’s Order – the Poor Servants of the Mother of God – who do great work in Mutito, Kenya!

Kenya is currently suffering another severe drought, and as a result there is famine.  The last time rain fell was on 27th April.  The next rains are due in November, with no guarantee that they will be sufficient to end the famine.

The people of Mutito are starving.  Food is scarce, and the price of food has doubled.  It costs 1,000 Kenya shillings (€10) to feed a family of five on maize alone, with no vegetables or meat.

The SMG sisters who work in Mutito run a health centre and a new maternity unit.  They are understaffed, as the nurses in the nearest hospital are on strike.  Sick people are coming to the centre in droves.  They do not have money to pay for medication, so the Sisters are treating them and providing food every day, particularly to the children.

Your support will be really appreciated, and every euro will go towards providing water, food and medicine for the people of Mutito.

Thank you.
