Race Around Ireland 2018 in aid of Laura Lynn Children's Hospice

In August 2018 a team of 12 friends, 8 cyclists supported by 4 crew, are endeavouring to undertake the Race Around Ireland in aid of LauraLynn Children's Hospice.

Race Around Ireland is a non-stop cycle race that people have been coming from all over the world for the last 9 years to take part in what has been listed as one of the “World’s Toughest Endurance Events“. As a team we will be aiming to complete this 2,200km challenge in less than 96hrs.

We have decided to undertake this challenge in memory of our friend SAR Crewman Ciarán Smith who competed solo in the event numerous times and had planned on competing in this year as a stepping-stone to competing in Race Across America in 2019. Ciarán tragically passed away in March 2017 when Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 116 was lost off the west coast of Ireland.

We would like to honour Ciarán’s legacy and our hope is to complete the event as a team of 8 cyclists, supported by 4 crew. The team is made up of family and colleagues of Ciarán’s and we hope to raise money for LauraLynn Children’s Hospice, a charity close to Ciarán’s heart and one he previously cycled for. We are hoping to raise €20,000 in aid of this amazing charity to support the wonderful work they do.

Thank you in advance from all of us for your generous donation.

Team Invictus.

Ladies & Gents iiiiiiiiiit's Kevin!
Introducing another member of TEAM INVICTUS 2018
Kevin is a youthful 44 years young, and is a Garda in Glenamaddy in Co Galway.
His big fear is public display of affection, so we are going to have to keep SId farrrrrr away from poor Kevin! # show him some love
His funniest memory is finding Ciarán (accidentally) in the bathroom with his naked future Father in Law!!!
Kevin is honoured to be part of them team, and has supported Ciarán in previous races as crew.
Now show your love by donating all for an amazing cause LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice and in memory of our hero #forsmithy

Ladies & Gents,

Introducing another team member!
Meet Richie Desay!
Richie is 35, and Winchcrew with Rescue 116 and a retired Firefighter with Dublin Fire Brigade. (A fireman at heart going by his profile pic )
Biggest fear is being talked into the Race Across America by certain team members!
Funniest memory is meeting a crew man from the last Race Around Ireland, in the middle of Blanch Shopping Centre , crying like a little girl because he got pee'd on by a certain cyclist 😂😂
Richie is delighted and honoured to be part of Team Invictus to raise money for LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice in memory of our hero.

It's about time we told you more about our team! Not long now till this crazy lot take on RAI 2018 in aid of LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice in memory of our dear friend x
Meet Sid Lawrence
Sid is 46, and a pilot with Rescue 116.
His biggest fear is falling off his bike at the start ramp! (Let's hope that doesn't happen 😂)
Funniest memory is when he accidently got pee'd on by a solo cyclist by a previous Race Around Ireland competitor!
Sid has a love/hate relationship with gravity, loves going downhill, not so much uphill!
This crazy, albeit loveable guy is more or less responsible for this venture so please get behind Sid and donate
