ROB Talbot & CATHAL Mahon REPRESENT IRELAND in Sea Scout Sailing, Koch Cup, U.S.A.

Galway Venture Sea Scouts, Rob and Cathal will compete for Ireland at a major international sea scout regatta, the Koch Cup, to be held on July 8th-13th 2018 in Galveston, Texas.

It's only the third time Ireland has qualified for this event which is held every two years in different venues across America.

Both lads have been sailing for 6/7 years ( approx the last 4 years competitively) at various regional events around Ireland and have posted some impressive wins in Silver fleet ,steadily climbing the ranks in Gold fleet.

They've worked hard with their coach Ciaran Jordon ,showing dedication and determination in training, maintaining focus on the goals they've set for themselves. They've trained under some brilliant instructors and coaches in Galway sailing clubs, Cumann Seoilteoreacht an Spideal (Spiddal), Galway Bay Sailing Club, Galway City Sailing Club and at camps in Howth, Dún Laoghaire and Schull.
They're doing their bit on the water and as Scouting is completely voluntary Rob and Cathal have to self fund to the tune of e3,500.

Your donation ,however small (or big) will help make this happen and will be greatly appreciated.
If you know of any businesses or individual that would be willing to help with sponsorship please contact Alan Delahunty....087 230 9037 or [email protected]

Theirishscouter has expressed clear views on this debacle. The lack of due process, the lack of a fair hearing, the lack of any support to Mr Mc Cann (or the other three senior members) are features worthy of a banana republic, not a leading youth organisation (and member of WOSM) operating with government support in a European Union democracy in 2019.

IF Mr Mc Cann had not been exonerated by the Lynch Report. If Mr Mc Cann had breached rules. If Mr Mc Cann was incompetent or corrupt (or both), his treatment in this affair would still be reprehensible and would still fly in the face of everything the Scout Law is supposed to stand for.

As it happens, Mr Mc Cann is none of these things. He was fully exonerated of the charges laid against him, yet remains in limbo for what increasingly appear to be political reasons.

The entire way this affair has been managed, should make volunteers in Scouting - ALL volunteers in Scouting very worried indeed.

😢😢Today marks the 3rd week that Gerry is missing and I can honestly say it gets harder with every day that passes without news. Our whole family's lives were put on pause on May 25th and life has not been the same since. We have a lot of people coming out to search with us today and I pray that something will come of this. Please keep on sharing, we need to find Gerry soon ❤️❤️❤️❤️
