ROB Talbot & CATHAL Mahon REPRESENT IRELAND in Sea Scout Sailing, Koch Cup, U.S.A.

Galway Venture Sea Scouts, Rob and Cathal will compete for Ireland at a major international sea scout regatta, the Koch Cup, to be held on July 8th-13th 2018 in Galveston, Texas.

It's only the third time Ireland has qualified for this event which is held every two years in different venues across America.

Both lads have been sailing for 6/7 years ( approx the last 4 years competitively) at various regional events around Ireland and have posted some impressive wins in Silver fleet ,steadily climbing the ranks in Gold fleet.

They've worked hard with their coach Ciaran Jordon ,showing dedication and determination in training, maintaining focus on the goals they've set for themselves. They've trained under some brilliant instructors and coaches in Galway sailing clubs, Cumann Seoilteoreacht an Spideal (Spiddal), Galway Bay Sailing Club, Galway City Sailing Club and at camps in Howth, Dún Laoghaire and Schull.
They're doing their bit on the water and as Scouting is completely voluntary Rob and Cathal have to self fund to the tune of e3,500.

Your donation ,however small (or big) will help make this happen and will be greatly appreciated.
If you know of any businesses or individual that would be willing to help with sponsorship please contact Alan Delahunty....087 230 9037 or [email protected]

Launch of the Loveen Restoration project by Galway Hooker 2020
at the 500 yr old Claddagh Blessing of the Bay.
The last owner, Nicky Dolan, unfortunately, died in 2011 before the work on the Loveen was compleated.
Ciaran Oliver's stories and fond memories of Nicky brought his presence to the occasion.
In 2011 Cllr Niall McNelis gifted this 95 yr old Galway Hooker to Port of Galway Sea Scouts.
In 2020 it will again sail again from its home in the Claddagh out onto Galway Bay.
