Push for the Pitch

Scoil N. Phádraig Naofa is set in the idyllic Vale of Avoca. Many of you will be familiar with the layout of the village from the television series'Ballykissangel'
We have 201 happy children who are a joy to work with every day. One of the things that these children love most is playing outdoors. The pupils are passionate about football and love nothing better than a 'good game of ball'. While we are surrounded by beautiful green grass which is lovely when we have sustained dry weather, however ,it is a different story in the winter time. Our pitch gets waterlogged and the only person that might manage to play football (or walk on it for that matter ) might be Noah and his friends from the Ark! We are then consigned to a small tarmac area which is not large enough for the children. We would love your help and support to help us turn our existing pitch into an all-weather one. This would allow the children to indulge in their favourite activity at break time all year round. This extra space would also enable us to turn the playground into a designated car parking space. This would mean that the existing parking area could be a designated set down area for the children as they enter and exit the school. At the moment some people have to park in this area and children are alighting from behind parked cars. Having the opportunity to turn this into a designated area would mean that the children would have safer access to and exit from the school.
The money will be used to convert the present pitch to a safe all-weather surface allowing the children to play in an appropriate space all year round. This resource could be shared with local community sports groups. We would love to be able to surprise the children when they return from their summer holidays in 2018 with a new all weather pitch. The children of Avoca N.S take such delight in playing football. If they were to be ina position to do this on a daily basis, their gratitude would would be infectious and such a moral booster for all of the staff including myself. It would mean so much to me personally to see a marked enchanment of the children's safety as they enter and exit from the school. Please help us if you can to realise this dream in the interests of our children's health and safety.
