Lough Swilly Lifeboat Station
Lough Swilly operates both an inshore and an all-weather lifeboat. Situated on the Inishowen peninsula the lifeboats provide cover for a variety of commercial and leisure marine activities.

overview

This year sees the RNLI celebrating 200 years of saving lives at see. The Lough Swilly lifeboat which has been saving lives at see since 1987. Over the years Lough Swilly RNLI has saved over 79 people and rescued nearly 900 people.

All the crew are volunteers and the cost of running the RNLI is funded totally from fundraising and donations, there is no government support North or South. On average it costs just over €2,500 to kit out each crew member. So please give generously.

history

The station was first set up in 1987 with one inshore lifeboat, over the years a second all weather lifeboat has been added and operates out of the pier in Buncrana.
